Alternately titled “How I made all of our animals mad the same day”

This weeks You Capture is, Orange.  I was thinking “Oh perfect, Ive got this nailed” and went off in search of orange.

He humored me for the first shot*.

…and then it all went downhill.

I added Odo to the mix (they are, arch enemies, didnt I know?)

She was all “Save me from the evil that has come to behold thee” and Im sure he was thinking “How much longer”

But its cute, right??

Especially when I took Tomcat out of the picture

But then she told me to talk to the foot, and I took a hint.

And went downstairs and took pictures of…

Cake!!  Yes, the same person that ordered us cake LAST time, ordered us cake again!  Only we told him he was going to have to pay for it, I mean, at $80 a cake, we were going to go broke fast.  And so he did.  And it was only $4.  A steal!  But we got cake!

And then I saw this, and thought ha!  Fire hydrant!  Dog!  Orange!  Cute!

But she didnt think so.

And I stood out there telling her to “Sit!  Hit!  Hit, Slim, Hit!” (because she does this really cute thing when you tell her to hit) but she wouldnt do anything.  She even refused to look at the camera, and Im sure everyone wondered why I was telling a dog to hit.

And then she too was all “Im outta here”

Also – Since this is You capture – I figure there are a lot of photographers out there, I have a question that I posted on twitter – My friend and I are having issues (at the same time – again) with our cameras – there are little spots showing up on the pictures due to dirt or something on the mirror like things inside the camera.  Ive tried wiping it with the cleaning cloth he came with, and shes tried the suction/vacuum thing and weve had no luck (I just have lint all over the inside of my camera now, and she has to photo shop the spots off!!) So does anyone have any advice?  Help!

*I take their pictures every time this year, in the same outfits, generally speaking, last years pictures are hereI have an old picture from the year before of them when they first got those outfits – but I dont know where it is now!

So um, opps.  Im slacking on this!  I thought I posted on final update before we left, but looking at it now, I dont think I did…oops!

Anyway, there has been a lot of progress since I last posed anything.  The pictures for the dining room arent going to be that great, because when I was taking pictures, I didnt take too many good ones of it – thinking I already had.  But, oh well.

Here is the progress in the dining room – mainly the trim around the window, and the gray (finally) wall.

And now the bathroom, where the most progress has been made, I think.

Hey look!  A sink!  A counter!  A mirror!

The counter top:

Next week I will try to do a before and after post.

The closest Ive gotten to an “Orchard” is the wild apple trees that we attempt to visit every time we go to Oregon in September.

This is a picture from the first time mom took us to see the apple trees that she used to get apples from when she was little.

Oh the Lord is good to me
And so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need
The sun and the rain and the apple seed
Oh the Lord is good to me

For every seed I sow
An apple tree will grow
And soon there’ll be apples there
For everyone in the world to share
The Lord is good to me
Johnny Apple Seed

Amanda calls this a “Good apple picking song”

Our pastor preached this morning, like he does most Sundays.  His sermon was, for some reason, very powerful…atleast to me.  He preached on putting off Idolatry, and Im not even going to try and sum up what he said.

What is Idolatry?

Ascribing worth or more value to something or someone over God.

On the back of the bulletin was a list of nine examples of Idolatry.

1. Misrepresenting the character of God.  Making a God we are comfortable with.

2. Worshipping God the wrong way.  Worshipping in a routine way, not from the heart.  Also worship – WORTHship.

3. Worshipping images.  Enough said.

4. Worshipping angles.  People wont worship God, but instead will worship his creatures that HE created.

5. Worshipping demons/Satan.

6. Worshipping dead men.

7. Worshipping men still alive.

8. Ultimate loyalty of the heart.

9. Extreme desire for something (inordinate desire).

Its really made me stop and think – what IS important?  What really deserves me full attention and devotion?  Nothing.  No one.  No one other that God.

Its often humorous for me to look back and think that the Israelites, after watching Moses go into the mountain, turn around and say “Build us a god.”  But how often do I craft my own “gods” or “idols.”  Intentional, or unintentional – it happens and I need to put my priorities back in line, and put God back where He belongs.

I want Him to control my life.

I don’t want some hand made, man made image that I have created in my mind – to ruin my life.

Storm edition.

It took me a whole 20 minutes to figure out that we have been back in town this week.  This entire last week, this whole week that we just went through – weve been at home.  Which meant that vacation pictures were not going to work or count as “This weeks” “Weekly winners.”

Also the fact that we slept in until 1pm this afternoon.  Just saying.

I am so NOT back from vacation (not that we slept in while we were gone).

This past week, we battled storms, power outages, and high wind warnings.  And also – I took very few pictures.  What can I say?  Winter blues and piles of paper work to figure out.

I only have a few for this week (This actual full week that we have been back that I all but forgot about the week itself) but Im back, and back I plan to be, hopefully next week will be more, uh, productive?

“Theres a house under that tree”

We lost a few trees in the storm…my dad took it upon himself to cut the most dangerous ones down, like the one hanging off a cliff…

“If you give a man some danger…”

“He will ask for a tow truck to go with it” (you know, just to make it all that much more dangerous):

You can see David in the above picture.  My sister went home for a few minutes and told me to “Keep an eye on them to make sure they didnt get hurt” Ok…sure…alright.  I will stand back and watch…sounds like great fun.

After the storm moon (or, “My obsession with moons, continue”):

“This is how the sky REALLY looked”

Or…if I had photo shop, I could do some great wonders with the two pictures above.  Sigh.

Happy week to everyone!
