Were leaving Monday night (or Tuesday morning) for a road trip. Were leaving at an hour, that I personally, think should be illegal. Our ferry leaves at 3:30am. We have to check in at 2:30. Which most likely means my mom will want to leave the house about 1:30. Meaning we will have to be up at about 1am. Which with my sisters “Night before the trip” tradition, we will most likely not be getting ANY sleep, and if we do, well, we will still have the great “Illegal hours” of the morning to deal with.

For the love of a road trip.

I don’t know where we are going, infact, we really don’t know where we are going. To Oregon they say. And away we go. To California! and we are gone.

Last time, we ended up in Nevada, in the middle of summer. This time? Were going through Canada – in the middle of winter.

Sigh.

We are so bright it almost blinds me sometimes.

We plan to be back the 16th.

See you then!

This weeks “You Capture” at I should be folding laundry is “Color.”

It put a new spin on my week – looking for color – and it was sort of interesting how everything with color, just popped out. Of course, actually capturing it? Not so easy. Especially as of lately, while I attempt and get over my ego, about taking decent pictures. I guess this is a start.
I saw these branches on a walk my sister and I took, but didn’t bring my camera, so instead I went home, and took some. At first I was having a hard time getting it to focus where I wanted it to, so I turned the lens on manual focus and had some fun with it…
I really liked the rain drops – something I havent ever been able to get before.
Earlier this week, we had two days where the sky would just light up with bright pinks, and reds. Of course, every picture I look at just doesn’t seem to “Do it” with the color, yea, it shows some of it…but not nearly as good as I wanted it to be (again with the ego trip).
And finally, this picture wasn’t taken this week, but I couldn’t not post it. When Parker was visits he always goes head over heels into the “I really like a fire truck picture on your computer” speech, and usually wins. But after flipping through 500+ pictures of fire trucks, ambulances, backhoes, toy back hoes, tiny toy kid backhoes, and so forth…I needed to get some work done, and sent him off to do something else…so he went to paint a fire truck, Amanda was nice enough to give him some of her paints…of course, he grabbed the bottle and squirted a glob of paint. At first, it looked like a fire truck – he had the whole two tire thing going, but got a little carried away, and by the time he was done, just had a red piece of paper.

This weeks “You Capture” @ I should be folding laundry is “Love around your home” I thought a little while, trying to come up with something that represented love around here, and the only thing I could really come up with was the animals. To be quite honest, Im getting tired of always posting animal pictures…

When I originally read this weeks challenge I read it as “Love around the house” which is what I presented to my sister, when asking her for ideas. I told her what I was thinking of, and she came up with “Love around the court house” and I went with it…and then I realized it was love around the home, not house…

To be quite honest, Im not really “Feeling like loving” today either.

And so, I hope this is ok. “Love around the court house your home”

First…a little back ground.

The next two subjects go way back.

Many many years ago, they were married.

Then divorced.

Then they moved apart, then back together.

Over the years, they have been together, and apart so many times, I have lost track. Last Monday, they decided to again, make things official, and they got married.

Before we left, I posted two pictures…asking why Parker was so upset, and what or who he was hiding from. If you read my twitter, you might have guessed that we went to his dads “Wedding” a few days before we left. Here in Alaska many things are “informal” even weddings!

Ok, so they didn’t exactly have a wedding. They went to the court house, and read their vows, and signed documents while we (Nik, my sister and I) snapped photos.

One thing I didn’t know, and no one bothered to tell me, was that pictures inside the court house, arent aloud. And so as we stood there, overly giddy, snapping pictures and laughing, when a bald man walked up. Stood there a few minutes, and while I contemplated asking if he wanted HIS picture taken, he said “Sir, there are no pictures aloud in the court house” and walked off.

At first, I was greatly offended. “Sir??” But then I realized that Parkers dad has HIS camera, and most likely, he was talking to him. Not me. Or maybe he was talking to Nik, we cant be for sure. Either way, we had to wait until we were inside the actual room, before picture taking was aloud, and while they read their vows, thought about things, and signed the documents, we were there to capture the moments.

Oh yea, and Parker? Was there too.

He wasn’t being very cooperative, and didn’t want his picture taken. He wouldn’t hold still, wouldn’t pose, and pretty much ran and hid every time I tried to get his picture. I don’t know why he was upset looking. But we figure it was because he was disgusted with the whole marriage thing.

Without any further introduction I bring to you, “Niks First wedding” I mean, “Love around the court house your home”

Let the “Wedding” begin!
“Do you take her to be your wife, to love honor and cherish ’till death do you part?”
…he thought a while…

After all, it had been awhile since they were last married.

“I do”

“You may now kiss the bride”
“I now pronounce you, man and woman wife”

Finalizing it all…

 The best Man:

I have so many, many things to say. Both good and bad. Some exciting, some not.

I have so many words piled up in my head, that it really isn’t funny.  I have a few post already written (in my head, of course) that Im pretty pumped about.

But I also have a desk full of papers, grease heavily smeared on a lot of things, and the floor, oh the floor.

We slept a good 12 hours last night, but Im still exhausted. A whole new meaning to “Jet Leg” has been given.

It was a full trip. While there were moments of intense sadness and anger, there were also moments of pure bliss and freedom. All things I hope to write about soon.

But for now, I must go disinfect the coffee pot, clean off the telephone, print off some crazy tax form that I know little to nothing about, book tickets for our next trip, and write an email that I don’t know how to write!

When Im done, I will be back, with stories, and pictures, and, and, and…
