Today I am thankful for….Capn!

This evening after evening service at church, I was talking with a friend and the topic veered off to sisters.  Her and her sister are really close – and as she talked about the silly things they do, I couldnt help but think of mine.  Laughing at things that no one else finds funny?  Laughing until the early hours of the morning?  Fighting and not being able to stay mad?  Yep.  Sisters.

This morning I checked my email to see that Amanda had sent me a short list of things she found online called “You know your from Alaska when…”

  • You measure distance in hours.
  • You’ve had cabin fever.
  • You know several people who have hit a moose.
  • Your school classes aren’t cancelled because of cold.
  • Your relatives/friends think you live too far away for them to come visit you, but keep asking you to come see them more often.
  • October is the month of your highest income.
  • When you answer the phone and it’s a wrong number, but you know the number of the person they were trying to call off the top of your head.
  • Your idea of taking a load off is emptying the firewood out of the back of the truck.
  • You take off your shirt and your arms are as pale as your legs all the way to your wrists.
  • Travel luggage consists of ice coolers (or fish boxes) wrapped with duct tape.
  • You like your neighbors.
  • You think it’s normal for a town to put all the businesses on one side of the road.
  • Your monthly veterinarian bill is more than your own medical bill.
  • Instead of plugging in your freezer, you’ve just move it to the front porch!
  • You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Alaska.

Today, I am thankful for Alaska.  For being able to call this beautiful place home.  I love to travel, and I love to see new places – but there is always something about this place that will hold a special place in my heart.

So as not to leave one out, today I am thankful for Miss Kitty (also known as Odo, pretty kitty, baby girl, and anything else you want to call her):

Who has just as much attitude as Tomcat, can hold her own, and loves attention.  Shes sweet, but shy.  Loves pork, and having her hair brushed.  Is a pillow hog, and gets loves to do early morning wake up calls by purring and carefully massaging the pillow – before “Accidentally” snagging a lip, eye, or ear.

Today I am thankful for this guy, Mr Tomcat:

Who has more attitude than this picture shows, and thats a whole lot of attitude!  Who has waken me up every morning the past few days at 6am because he wants his special treat, and will NOT be ignored.  Who tripped me twice last night while going up stairs, and when I turned my back tried to use the dogs crate as his litter box.  Who I got mad at last night.  Who came for a snuggle shortly after I had gotten mad.  Who isnt afraid to push his way in for a hug and make my day all that much better.  Who is feisty, and frisky, and loveable at all once.
